My felting disaster

Following on from my last post I thought I would share my experience of making felt for the first time.

Just so you know the lesson I learnt was that I should follow instructions rather than just plowing straight into something.

So I started off with my wool

I purchased this from Forest Fibres and was a fantastic bargain.

The next stage is to then layer the wool in different directions, this I did then covered with soapy water and rubbed.

It all blended together though there where a few small holes but that can be ignored.

I ended up with this

Looks gorgeous doesn't it :0)

I did miss a few of the steps out, like making sure it was really soapy then rolling it, fulling it, and then shrinking it.

Oh well as my first go I am pretty impressed maybe next time I will do it properly.

Love

  1. LOL, you sound just like me - I would do the same thing, now you need a very swift course in crazy patchwork and embellishment and you can say its meant to be like that, the more I look I think with the right embellishments you could turn it into a handbag design no probs.
